SpellBound

Contracts now being honored by Salt City Transfer

Biographical Sketch

SpellBound was organized in February of 1996 with a destiny to keep the tradition of pure and intense entertainment mixed with a delightful touch of high class humor and the wonderful enchanting illusions of magic. Now brought on board is the great experience of three fine local quartets and the combination of a professional magician and traveling singer. It is no wonder that they took championship honors in their first contest as they captured the Rocky Mountain District title in September, 1996.

The Baritone, Mark Crapo, is a talented musician with singing and entertaining experience in the local market. He spent several years as lead with the South Town Tradition, a top ten RMD barbershop quartet and has a host of top ten international finishes with the Saltaires. His contribution to SpellBound as the baritone with an unlimited upper range has helped enable the group to include some of the finest pieces of music with virtuoso arrangements. These numbers added to any repertoire make for an incredible performance every time.

With a Tenor like Bruce Gundersen, the sky is the limit. His 35 years of quartet experience have been enhanced by special musical theater appearances at Pioneer Theater Company in "The Music Man" and "My One and Only" as well as seven top ten international finishes as producer of the Saltaires. As a founding member of Salt City Transfer, and the award winning "The Next Best Thing" he has developed a unique ability to entertain both young and old alike with the craft of a capella singing and stylistic arranging ability. Now with SpellBound we find him singing those incredible tenor tags. Add to this, the always unexpected and enchanting timing of quick wit and you have an unequaled entertainment package. When he is not spending time practicing chiropractic medicine, he runs a recording studio and sound reinforcement business.

And then out of the blue, appears the Lead, Scott Hoffman, who has performed as a regular with the Ray Conniff Singers, is the director of the Beehive Statesmen and makes his living, when not consulting, creating magic right before your very eyes. He too has a host of top ten international finishes with the Saltaires He has added the real magic to the group, not only in his mystical stage presence between the songs but also with his clear melodic voice which captures the harmonic enhancement of a sound that truly leaves the audience satisfied.

Add Ian Robbins as bass and you have a set of pipes that resonate like none ever heard before. He is also a Saltaire with two district championships and three top ten international finishes. His entertainment experience transcends the typical bass singing of the barbershop realm through a set of appearances in musical theater that include "My One and Only", "The Wiz", "Guys and Dolls", "42nd Street" and "Oklahoma" as well as an accomplished Jazz Trombone Player. His award winning years of entertainment experience with the award winning "The Next Best Thing" provides for a program capability sure to delight all.
